About Us

The Law Society of Western Australia is the professional association for Western Australian barristers and solicitors.  Membership of the Law Society is not compulsory for lawyers.

The Society offers services both to its members and also to the public and government.


Governance and Structure
The Society is governed by a Council chaired by the President.  The Council of the Society is assisted in the management of the Society by the Executive Director, Mr David Price, and Society staff.

There are more than 40 active policy, statutory and administrative committees, made up of Society members.


CORPORATIONS ACT Financial Services Reform Regulations
The Law Society of Western Australia pursuant to regulation 4 of the Legal Practitioners (Professional Indemnity) Regulations 1993 and its successors is required to make arrangements for professional indemnity insurance for legal practitioners in Western Australia. As part of these arrangements, the Society operates a mutual fund trading as Law Mutual (WA).
